On this track, we are taking the [[Original Occupy Vision Doc]] - and listing out actions (toward firm goals) we can take toward getting toward achieving the vision.

Process:

1. To understand where the[[Original Occupy Vision Doc]] came from and find the background on how we built that document. We believe that because so many people worked on this Original Occupy Vision Doc, that it's worthwhile to use it as our "basis". We can improve the content as we go along. But for working purposes, we're assuming that it's a decent representation of what the people in the movement want. We may choose to add new items, of course. Please do this carefully, though, because if we want it to be something that the movement supports, we can't just add new visions willy nilly. Please work with the Occupy Vision group to get that consensus.

2. We're taking the listed items, and ADDING below each item, tactics and actions to achieve that item. As we mature as a movement, we will likely change this basic vision doc. But for now, please respect it as a starting point, and modify only the space/entries below each BOLD ITEM. There's also been the suggestion to categorize the items into those that are "concrete goals" that can be acted upon, and those that are more ethereal values/principles. Fred and Cal expressed some interest in this. One suggestion for organizing may be to take some of the items that we can't legislate. So it's like a "cultural change" section? Things to keep in mind as we evolve section?

3. We're planning to take the actions under each goal and put them into a timeline. THEN we're planning on linking the different orgs on "the list" (see Track 2) and who might "do" the work. Allying with groups already on that path, for example. We may also choose to categorise items that might work together, decide if they are things that are want to do as individuals, or as a group, and/or decide various other ways of organizing.

Proposal to Zero Sum Budget Title 26

The basic is idea is to re-write the federal tax code, democratically, from scratch, using the Internet and in face Town Meetings. This would allow everyone to vote on each and every credit/exemption in the 17 volume federal tax code (Title 26.) Below is a quote from the annual report of Tina E. Olson, National Taxpayer Advocate, in which she advocates having the Congress zero-sum budget the Title 26.

The advantage of this approach is that instead of the chicken wire, duct tape, seat of your pants, deduction of the day, system we have now, the country as a whole has the opportunity to think about the kind of country the tax code could shape if writing it were a mindful process. During the voting process, which would take approximately five years the only taxes collected would be on all forms of income, in accordance with the progressive brackets now in place. After the five year planning process, there would be an additional two year phase in of the new code. This gives the economy time to adjust to the change. The simplicity of the approach makes it easy to sell, the "across the board-ness" is in tune with the times and will attract libertarians who can accept the brackets. Drastically cutting the cost of administration will result in more funds ending up in public coffers.

In addition, many people with no medical background have asked how they can be trained as street medics. These efforts included outreach to the national street medic listserve, word of mouth, and networking at the recent street medic conference and NATO protests. Unfortunately, there are not many experienced medic trainers in the northeast right now. The Rosehips are a well known, highly regarded medic collective with a solid training program. We decided that, if we need to fly people in, they would be our best option. Two other people, one from Boston and one from Ithaca, NY, felt they were not experienced enough to lead a training but will co-train and learn from the Rosehips so that they may be able to run trainings in the northeast in the future.
