==How to Request or Provide Food to an Occupy Boston Event==

'''To request food for a OB Event:'''
Please provide as much lead time as possible. Email [mailto:occupyboston.food@gmail.com occupyboston.food@gmail.com] with the date and time of the event, time you would like food, and what kind of food/beverage would be good. Put an email address/phone number for contact. People dropping off food at downtown locations usually will need help bringing in food. The food working group will make an effort to help provide food, but we are still working on building our capacity to meet OB's food needs.

'''To provide food for an OB Event:'''
Please join and stay tuned to the OB Food Google Group where requests will circulate. You can also coordinate to provide food regularly -- for GA's, Free School University, Outreach, Community Events. Such regular food help is really needed and appreciated. In general, you can spontaneous bring food or beverages to ANY OB event and it will be appreciated -- remember that the churches don't allow food in the sanctuaries and that you will need to bring the serving utensils and disposible plates, cups, napkins and spoons/forks that your donation needs. Good food options are simple, vegetarian with vegan options, and easy to deal with and serve. Bringing a jug of water is also helpful. And cookies.

There are vegetables available for making into salad and cooked food. Contact us for details.

You can get reimbursed for food and paper/plastic goods purchases for Occupy Boston events. Bring receipts to GAs or call the FAWG: 857-417-7872 or email [mailto:obwg.fundingrequest@gmail.com obwg.fundingrequest@gmail.com]

This page describes the food operation at Dewey Square -- Post-Dewey Food Support can be found here: [[Food - Post Dewey]]

The Food Working Group runs the Food Tent at Occupy Boston. We are the primary source for collecting, preparing, and serving food and drink to the protestors and guests at Occupy Boston. We serve free food and drink every day and can take-away groceries as our capacity allows. We usually close the tent down in the late hours of the night (around midnight or 1am) until the early morning, but drinks are available 24/7.

==Want to join or volunteer with the Food Working Group?==
The Food Working Group is open to all.

Help is needed both offsite and at the Food Tent itself. '''One of the best things you can do, is cook meals on your own and bring them to Occupy Boston's food tent.'''

If you'd like to help at the Food Tent, come stop by the Food Tent, introduce yourself, and ask to speak with a Food Tent volunteer who understands our ways of doing things there. They'll give you a quick training on our procedures (greeting donors, wearing gloves, serving guests ourselves, asking guests to use hand sanitizer, how much food to offer people, our washing system, tent organization of supplies, etc) and they you can start helping right away.

'''The food tent constantly needs volunteers to do the following:'''
* serve food.
* wash dishes.
* organize our supplies.
* keep the general food tent area clean.

Volunteering at the Food Tent is a great way to meet people at Occupy Boston. Just about EVERYONE stops by the food tent for a bite to eat or something to drink!

'''Help offsite is also needed:'''
* using your car/truck/bikecart to transport food across town.
* soliciting food donations.
* cooking meals offsite and bringing them to the Occupation.
Please email us at [mailto:occupyboston.food@gmail.com occupyboston.food@gmail.com] if you are interested in doing offsite work such as this or have any ideas of your own.

==Food Working Group Meetings==
The Food Working Group meets Mondays from 6pm-7pm at the Food Tent. We may move locations after meeting in the tent if not having enough space is an issue. If you show up late and don't see us, ask someone in the Food Tent where we went.
==How to Request or Provide Food to an Occupy Boston Event==

Once an event has been set and it needs food, you can request food support or look to see if food support is needed by accessing the Food Support Calendar.

To access and add to the calendar, go to [http://www.TakeThemAMeal.com Take Them A Meal] Recipient name is '''OccupyBoston''' and password is '''5957'''.

'''To request food for a OB Event:'''
Click on the "take" button on the day of the event. In the "meal box" write "need food" and use the spaces provided to describe the place, time and what kind of food would be good. Put an email address/phone number for contact.

'''To provide food for an OB Event:'''
Check the calendar. Click on the "change" button and write "bringing food" and describe. Good food options are simple, vegetarian with vegan options, and easy to deal with and serve. For now, you will need to bring serving utensils and disposible plates, cups, napkins and spoons/forks. Bringing a jug of water is also helpful.

----

'''Working groups''' are teams of people within the Occupation, each focused on a particular area or task. These groups are the organs supporting the body of the Occupation. Within them you will find resources, discussions, and courses of action in every field.

Working groups are '''open''', which means anyone can help out, including you! Like the Occupation as a whole, working groups are run as horizontal democracies, using consensus decision-making and holding publically accessible meetings. To join or volunteer with a working group, see its wiki page for contact information and meeting times.

To join the email list for any of these groups, to get announcements and/or participate in discussion, please go to the [[http://groups.occupyboston.org/ workgroup signup page]].
