Gregking3: Achieving Shared Fairness

Hi, Folks. I think what started with Occupy Wall Street and has continued with Occupy Boston, Occupy Oakland, etc. can be a new start for our country, as more and more people, young and old, women and men, gay and straight, working or not come together and remake our world in a better, fairer way. I know it hasn't been, but America is supposed to be all about fairness. Let's make it that way. Each generation has a chance to start things over. There may be, there are, lots of obstacles, but let's work together to overcome them.

I'm working full-time. I know; I'm lucky. Lots of people don't have jobs, or don't have full-time jobs. I work in housing for the City. I'm also a member of SEIU, Local 888 and am active in it. I've tried to think of what I could do to help Occupy Boston, since I don't have a lot of free time, and I have a partner at home who hates politics or really any kind of public involvement.

I hit upon the idea of contacting all the union people I know. I know a lot of them. Not a real lot, but a lot. I've asked them to come down to Occupy Boston and ask everybody there what they could do to help. I hope a lot of them will. What I mainly can do is write and talk politics. I'm not good at much of anything else. But if I can help in those ways, I'd like to do so.

I have a vision of a more democratic society, and of lots of people working together to make it happen. It's up to each person her- or himself whether they want to take part, but if they do, I hope they work together with their sisters and brothers to make shared fairness a reality.

In solidarity,
Greg King
