Help is needed both offsite and at the Food Tent itself. '''One of the best things you can do, is cook meals on your own and bring them to Occupy Boston's food tent.'''

If you'd like to help at the Food Tent, come stop by the Food Tent, introduce yourself, and ask to speak with a Food Tent volunteer who understands our ways of doing things there. They'll give you a quick training on our procedures (greeting donors, wearing gloves, serving guests ourselves, asking guests to use hand sanitizer, how much food to offer people, our washing system, tent organization of supplies, etc) and they you can start helping right away.

'''The food tent constantly needs volunteers to do the following:'''
* serve food.
* wash dishes.
* organize our supplies.
* keep the general food tent area clean.
Volunteering at the Food Tent is a great way to meet people at Occupy Boston. Just about EVERYONE stops by the food tent for a bite to eat or something to drink!

'''Help offsite is also needed:'''
* using your car/truck/bikecart to transport food across town.
The Food Working Group meets Mondays from 6pm-7pm at the Food Tent. We may move locations after meeting in the tent if not having enough space is an issue. If you show up late and don't see us, ask someone in the Food Tent where we went.
==About the Food Working Group and Food Tent==
The Food Working Group runs the Food Tent at Occupy Boston. We are the primary source for collecting, preparing, and serving food and drink to the protestors and guests at Occupy Boston. We serve free food and drink every day and can take-away groceries as our capacity allows. We usually close the tent down in the late hours of the night (around midnight or 1am) until the early morning, but drinks are available 24/7.

==Want to join or volunteer with the Food Working Group?==
The Food Working Group is open to all.

* wash dishes.
Volunteering with the Food Working Group is a great way to meet people at Occupy Boston. Just about EVERYONE stops by the food tent for a bite to eat or something to drink!
==Food Working Group Meetings==
The Food Working Group meets Mondays from 6pm-7pm in the Greenway Park between Congress Street and Pearl Street. In case of rain, we meet in the upstairs eating area of South Station.
October 07, 2011
* '''Tent stakes''': Skinny metal ones and wide plastic ones.
* '''Non-disposable dish & cutlery''': No glass. That's a safety hazard waiting to happen, and we're happy with our no-injury record so far.
* '''Tables''': Folding ones are a favorite.
* '''Plywood and/or pallets''': The ground here is muddy, and we make paths between the tents with this stuff. The stuff we have now is a) not quite sufficient and b) in bad condition.
* '''Blankets''': Yes, we still need these. We've received many donations, but we still need more. If you're planning to join us and take up residence, we recommend bringing two blankets for yourself, plus one additional blanket for every friend you'd like to make the instant you show up.
* '''Warm gloves''': All types, all sizes. This isn't sexy but the weather's going to get increasingly cold as we stay here, and we'd like to keep moving things around and generally taking our hands out of our pockets on a regular basis.
* '''Drivers''': We have a lot of people who have supplies in their homes that they can't easily move on the T. We also have businesses willing to make donations if we can show up and take delivery. Most of the occupiers do not have cars - if you're working during the day and want to help at night, this would be a great way. (If you have supplies in your home, or your business is willing to donate, and you need a driver, contact us here or at [http://www.twitter.com/OBLogistics @OBLogistics].)

Additionally, while food donations are still welcome (and we are head-over-heels in love with Food Not Bombs for all the help they've provided so far) we could use some extra bins to put some of this stuff in so as to disappoint the local rat population. Also someone kindly donated more apples than we can possibly eat before they go bad, so please, no more apples for a week or so.

Help is needed both offsite and at the Food Tent itself. One of the best things you can do, is cook meals on your own and bring them to Occupy Boston's food tent.

The food tent constantly needs volunteers to do the following:
* serve food.
* wash dishes.
* organize our supplies.
* keep the general food tent area clean.

Volunteering with the Food Working Group is a great way to meet people at Occupy Boston. Just about EVERYONE stops by the food tent for a bite to eat or something to drink!

==Want to Donate? - Our Needs... - updated 10/25/11==

Our resources are quite limited on-site, so we strongly urge those interested in donating food to donate '''prepared foods''' and '''Drinks'''.

'''Prepared Foods''' which are ready to eat are the best thing you can donate! Here are some good ideas:

* Baked goods
* Prepared and pre-wrapped sandwiches
* Premade vegetarian dishes (for example, chilli, pasta, dahl, beans and rice, and so on)

This is the page for the Food Working Group at Occupy Boston.

==About the Food Working Group and Food Tent==
The Food Working Group runs the Food Tent at Occupy Boston. We the primary source for collecting, preparing, and serving food and drink to the protestors and guests at Occupy Boston.

Help is needed both offsite and at the Food Tent itself. One of the best things you can do, is cook meals on your own and bring them to Occupy Boston's food tent.

The food tent constantly needs volunteers to do the following:
* serve food.
* wash dishes.
* organize our supplies.
* keep the general food tent area clean.

Volunteering with the Food Working Group is a great way to meet people at Occupy Boston. Just about EVERYONE stops by the food tent for a bite to eat or something to drink!

==Our material needs - updated 10/25/11==

Our resources are quite limited on-site, so we strongly urge those interested in donating food to donate '''prepared foods'''.

The following are particularly useful:

Community support is essential to our ongoing action at Dewey Square where we're making a stand against the corporate hijacking of our political system.
You can drop off donations on Atlantic Avenue on the left-hand side of the street between Summer and Congress. The police have been accommodating in this regard. Simply pull up beside the encampment, turn on your blinkers, and enlist the help of any nearby occupiers to unload anything you've brought.
October 08, 2011
We need

* salad dressing (preferably vegan)
* oil/vinegar
* a big coffee maker 100 cup or so
* hand sanitizer
* MORE VOLUNTEERS.

If you're interested in getting food, getting water, or preparing food, talk to Dan the Bagel Man or Derek, who are usually at the food tent.<br>
'''<span style="color: #000000;">Sustainable Soon, Insulated Containers Desired</span>'''

The food tent is going well. In fact, your generosity has slightly overwhelmed us. We would like to put a hold on non-”ready-to-eat” food donations until we have gotten through our current back stock. We cannot thank you all enough for your generosity.

We are moving away from non-reusable plates. Plates and utensils will be handled by logistics. Our current system was simply not sustainable in the face of a long occupation. We are organizing a dish washing station, and have a shipment of reusable containers coming in next week.

If you have any to spare, we could still use insulated containers to transport and serve food in!

It is always a pleasure serving you all.

First, the food group would like to thank everyone who has brought food to us, who have been so generous to all of us and who have shown their faith in this movement. Thank you. Secondly, on a personal level, I want to thank the amazing crew of volunteers, from Food Not Bombs and now our own organization who have stepped up to make the food tent work as well as it does.

We desperately need volunteers, especially in the daytime. We have a schedule at the food tent where you can sign up for a shift. Please email me at the address below if you have any questions.

Please no more bread for the time being! We have too much as it is.<br>
