Occupy Boston Winterization Meeting Thursday November 10th, 2011 -The question of whether pallets and/or plywood need reinforcement/protection from rot is raised. -Characteristics of good winter tents: low entry, appropriately ventilated, low ceiling, seams sealed, airspace between tarp and tent. -Condensation will become more of a problem as temperatures drop. Tents need ventilation to allow adequate air for tenants and evaporation. -Calcium Chloride offered as an option for condensation absorber. -Do not block air intakes on tents as this creates a hazard of air supply and also traps moisture inside. -It has been observed that space blankets and tarps are hazardously blocking all air intakes on some tents. Totally impermeable materials (e.g. tarp or space blankets) are not able to transmit air or water and should be used wisely in habitations. -Sage got outside funding ($1000) for mini wagon houses. Would like to ask GA for a match in funds.
