	As a result of the thousands of legally admitted immigrants, residents and American Citizens, who have been  unfairly apprehended and prosecuted through the ‘Expedited Removal Program’, implemented by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, ICE, and operating under the Department of Homeland Security, we demand that Governor, Deval Patrick, refuse to cooperate with a federal law that profiles people of color and participates in a corrupt system of jails for profit. (1)

	We demand that Governor, Deval Patrick, refuse to cooperate with a federal law that criminalizes ‘immigration violations’, (2) and puts fathers and mothers, as well as hardworking young men and women, in the same category as terrorist, armed robbers, rapists, thieves and murderers. We demand that the governor refuse to cooperate with the ‘Expedited Removal Program’ in which due process is denied to suspects, even when they are U.S citizens. Human beings who come to America seeking honest work and to contribute to their communities should not be labeled criminals because they lack proper documentation, nor should they be profiled as criminals. It is an over reach of the law, it is an unfair law and its consequences unjust.

	<br/>(1) - The Corrections Corporation of America and the GEO Group Incorporated, are two private companies that contract with the Department of Homeland Security to incarcerate and process the deportation of up to 15,000 inmates a month. They receive monetary incentive for each inmate.

	(2) - Signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2003 with the Patriot Act, the Department of Homeland security categorized ‘immigration violations’, such as the ones used in the terrorist attacks in 9/11/01, as criminal acts. The expedited Removal Program’ implemented by the ICE, is based on this assumption that any and all ‘immigration violations’ are a criminal act, not a misdemeanor.
