= WG Purpose or Mission =

To get money out of politics! We exist to learn about this issue, research this issue and reach out to teach others about this issue.

= Actions Planned =

Steps (objectives) the Working Group hope to take over the next 6 months toward achieving this purpose or mission:

We want to create an army of citizen lobbyists and get more regular people interacting with elected officials.

We want to put pressure on the State House to pass reforms dealing with campaign finance, disclosure and pay to play

We want to challenge every city and town in the commonwealth of MA to pass a resolution calling on the State House to pass S772

We want to put pressure on individual elected officials to make better decisions about their own campaign finance strategies and expose candidates and incumbents like Mike Capuano who take money from corporations like Citygroup and contractors like Arthur Winn in exchange for political favors

We want to reach out to other groups working on this issues and build a coalition to make this effort more powerful

We want to coordinate with similar working groups in Occupods all over the country to share ideas and build national campaigns, and have already started to reach out to contacts in OWS and DC

= Resources Needed =

Itemize resources, including money that might be needed to accomplish these objectives:

Mostly we hope to host teach-in type events. We have places we can use now for free or at minimal cost.

Food for attendees is definitely a necessity. It was one of the things people who attended our 20/21 event were surprisingly pleased we were able to provide. Flyers and advertising for events is a cost we expect to incur.

= Actions to Find Resources =

Actions we expect to take to help get the resources and money needed for the work we are planning:

We hope our events can do a better job of taking in donations in order to be a little more self-sustaining. We also hope that by doing more positive things we can attract some donors to help offset the costs. We also hope to do a better job of finding less expensive host facilities.
