Back to Human Interest Story Ideas

- Scott, middle aged Santa Claus like figure, himself homeless, for over 20 years, has walked the streets at night helping other homeless people cope. Know for his reflective safety vest, Scott cares for people who are disoriented and helps them find shelter. He also helps them find police assistance, if necessary. Making the city safer, at little or no cost to the taxpayers, Scott's a real hero. When he arrived at Occupation Boston, he was an instant hero, willing to work long hours at night and in the rain, helping to care for people and helping to develop processes for coordinating safety activities. His experience, and gentle demeaner helped the early safety working group learn to deal with difficult situations, including how to keep peace among people with such varied backgrounds.
