Blankets

I've been buying disaster blankets (these are NOT those "emergency blankets") in 5 packs for $30 each. Warm, heavy, cheap. They're ugly, and hard to color coordinate with your tent though. Matt 11:24, 28 October 2011 (EDT)

These are very good if used with sleeping bags. Keep moisture and wind out, prevent hypothermia, and also add a lot of extra warmth but only if used in conjunction with normal sleeping bags or blankets. Not great alone, IMHO. http://www.mcrmedical.com/category/emergency-sleeping-bags.html $25/10 $113/50

Military wool blankets -- they've already done the research (with our tax dollars) so trust that they have the best of everything. I know because I was in the military and what we were issued was more than adequate for every contingency. Closest to your area, internet says is: Kenmore Army & Navy Stores of Boston, 477 Washington St, Boston, MA 02111, (617) 292-2769. Stacie
