Boilerplate Request

(Sent to LIST@ and LIST-owner@)

Subject: Status of LIST mailing list?

Hello LIST,

We (OBIT) are in the process of doing some house keeping on our mailing lists. Specifically, we're trying to figure out which lists are still being used, and which can be retired (aka publicly archived [1] and deleted).

Are people still using this list? If yes, then just say so, and we'll leave it as-is.

On the other hand, if this list is no longer used, then please let us know so that we can archive and delete it.

Thanks in advance.

[1] The archive location is http://archive.occupyboston.org/mailing-lists/

Boilerplate (re: Archives)

We (OBIT) don't have the bandwidth to do any special handling of list archives right now. Let's leave the list as-is for now. I'll make a note to circle back (re: preservation of list archives) when we're more caught up on things.

  • 2/24/2013 Bobby Wengronowitz: "Unless others on the list have any objections, I think we can delete it. Hasn't been used in a while."
  • 2/25/2013 Bobby W.: I'd be in favor of keeping the list then, to keep the archives. I'm in favor of keeping all list archives. There was no doubt an awful lot of emails, but we're mostly talking about text that shouldn't use that much memory. I'd imagine other occupy groups may be going through similar processes (or have or will), and that dumping all the archives from all the different groups into one place would be useful for research purposes.

  • 2/25/2013 Linda Jenkins: I'd like to keep this one, Steve, in light of the fact that retiring it means losing any messages and addresses archive associated with it.
