WG Purpose or Mission

Drawing humbly on the powerful traditions of Gandhi, King, Baker, Deming and others, the NVWG is a vehicle for promoting awareness about the principles and practices of nonviolence as well as civil disobedience. The WG is a resource for materials, workshops, trainings, discussions and agendas which support the OB community in building collective understanding and strategies for NV . Working group meetings are an opportunity for sharing ideas and action possibilities that promote nonviolence and nonviolent direct action.

Action Plans

Steps (objectives) the Working Group hope to take over the next 6 months toward achieving this purpose or mission:

(add the statement). organized and led 1 series of NVDA trainings and 5-6 individual NVDA trainings and sponsored a visioning workshop with Linda Stout. In the next 6 months, we are planning a community evening on March 19th– “In the spirit of Bayard Rustin – exploring the power of nonviolence”, offering nonviolence trainings to specific communities, offering discussions on nonviolence and power for Lesley University, organizing a NonViolence Communication event, distributing materials to promote awareness about nonviolence, participating in efforts to create OB as a nonviolent community.
