Queer And Trans Caucus Meeting Minutes - October 16, 2011
Meeting Minutes: Queer & Trans Caucus at Occupy Boston, Sunday October 16 2011, 5:30pm
Main result: there will be daily gatherings at the Queer & Trans tent at 5:30pm daily. It's up to the people there to decide if they are a quorum & want to make decisions about things. There is no official number that designates quorum. Smaller, non-quorum gatherings might work on draft revisions or other projects.
Mtg started at 5:45.
16 people attended the meeting in the Queer & Trans tent at Occupy Boston.
Intros: Some were part-time campers/occupiers; many were there for the day.
There was general acclaim for the anti-oppression training happening later in the evening.
Photographing this meeting was allowed (with some people exempting themselves).
There was mention of creating queer-safe space at OB, in general, and intervening to create it.
Reading of agenda set by previous mtg, and temperature check about each one
- Statement of Ally-ship with other caucuses (or other occupations?)
- Revising another statement (not sure at this time)
- Finalizing draft of statement about not being awful at Occupy Boston
- Tent issues: consent, hook-ups,: tabled
- Misgendering at GA on a previous Thursday: tabled
- Draft revision statement of purpose
- Putting Queen & Trans Caucus Meetings on Google calendar: unanimous yes
- Next meeting
I don't recall what the temperature for each agenda item was.
The agenda item that got discussed was the next meeting. Result: Meetings daily at 5:30; whether there is a quorum is up to the people who are there, whether they feel they can represent the group & can decide things.
Other items about daily meetings:
- There will be a log book kept in a tent, Elizabeth can print out notes & bring them on Thursday, Oct 20.
- There was mention of getting notes and future agenda items out to the list, so that people will know if they want to attend a particular meeting.
Other items:
Next Friday there will be a consent workshop based on message, at the mediation tent at 5pm.
There is foam-core board in the tent that can be used as whiteboard. One occupier made a sign about the daily gatherings.
At 7:50, there was a proposal & vote to continue the agenda discussion.
At 7:52, there was a proposal & vote to use remaining time for gathering discussion, at which point mtg broke up, and some people remained to write the foamcore sign about gatherings.
End of meeting minutes.
