Tent City/Logistics/Structures and Building
This page is for links to building solid, temporary structures cheaply and quickly.
Yurt's were traditionally used by the Mongolian tribesmen as mobile, semi-permanent shelters. Yurts were purpose built to protect from wind, rain, and cold weather, they were also designed to safely contain a heat source without risking damage due to fire or carbon monoxide build up. Yurts can be assembled and disassembled in less than an hour, the only trick to building a yurt is to fabricate and milling out the pieces needed for the construction, these can be done within a weekend when using power tools, a week by hand using hand tools and a dedicated team of crafters.

This bullet list is a brainstorm of thoughts on construction. All should add ideas here as they think of them:
- Burning Man (and other festivals I haven't been to) feature temporary construction of very high quality. Here's a link to info about techniques there [[3]]
- There are probably a lot of burners in boston with geodesic struts already cut. Geo domes are awesome.
- Two-wheel carts that can be hauled by human power and weigh about 100 pounds will be great. Here is an idea about how they can be made:[[4]] [[5]] [[6]] They have the advantage of being quickly portable as well as really hard to stuff into a garbage truck. I am interested in developing this and working with people on it. - Sage
